2009 Awards Ceremony and Banquet
Dear Parents,
The 2009 Awards Ceremony and Banquet will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 4:00 pm at the Greenbelt Marriott located at 6400 Ivy Lane. Greenbelt, Maryland, 20770. Because of the dedication of our volunteers at the concession stand and everyone that sold Gianni’s Pizza this season, we are once again able to hold a first rate banquet and make the occasion free to all of our players and cheerleaders. Please see your head coach/team administrator to purchase your reservations. You may mail in your reservation but it is requested that you get your reservations in before November 13th. The event will be “business casual.” Collared shirts will be required. No tennis shoes or jeans will be permitted. Please complete the Reservation Form and turn it in if attending. If you are unable to attend but your child (participant whom is free) is attending, you still need to fill out the reservation form to indicate that they are attending even though they are free so that we can give an accurate head count. Please show your support for the Laurel Steelers and all of its players and cheerleaders. GO STEELERS!
Last Equipment turn in is, 12/03/09, from 6pm - 8pm at the REAR of the Howard county Recs and Parks building (7120 Oakland Mills Rd., Columbia, Md. 21046)
Now that the season has come to an end for most teams, we need to take care of one last task. Equipment turn-in is crucial for this organization and allows our Director of Field Operations to get an accurate count of all gear so that evaluations can be conducted and replacement gear can be planned/purchased for next season!! This also serves as the opportunity for the County to return the security deposit checks to parents once it is verified that all equipment sets are complete. Please return your equipment in bag of some sort and not in a bunch of individual pieces. For your convenience you can click on the link and print out the “Equipment & Uniform Checklist” which will assist you with gathering all equipment ahead of time.

Are you lucky at the Blackjack tables or how about the slot machines? If you missed the Atlantic City Bus Trip on April 18th, you weren’t really lucky at all; the trip was a BLAST!! The Atlantic City trip was an opportunity for adults to hang-out a bit, gamble a little and enjoy some time away from the kids. The Laurel Steelers’ Flea Market Fundraiser April 4, 2009
When we ask, you respond. The Flea Market Fundraiser was a huge success. We asked for donations from our parents and community supporters and you responded by donating high-quality and obviously sought after items because they were sold as quickly as you could bring them in. Our youth athletes and cheerleaders are fortunate to have such good support and generous contributions from parents and the community.
Laurel Steelers Night at Chili’s March 17, 2009
The Chili’s event had a HUGE turnout. Families in huge numbers turned-out for a good time, good food and for a good cause. That cause was to support the Laurel Steelers Football & Cheer program by helping raise much needed funds to supplement monies provided by the county. Beyond the good food, everyone just had a wonderful time in a welcoming atmosphere. You missed a good event!!!!!!
Laurel Steelers Night at Silver Diner March 12, 2009
So here was the scene… you walked into the Silver Diner and you are greeted at the door by a friendly smile from one of Laurel Steelers’ team mom and board member. You were quickly seated (in the best seats of course) and your server closely followed. Wait, that’s not all; one of you servers was either a team coach or the president of the booster club who were friendly and eager to provide parents, athletes and cheerleaders with good quality service and to ensure that everyone was comfortable. This was a phenomenal event due to the support and generosity of parents and community supports. Thank you!
Modell’s Recruitment Kick-off March 7, 2009
A huge turnout… This event was a success; families turned-out in record numbers to get more registration information, participate in helping recruit interested youths and parents for the program and to re-commit their participation in the up-coming season. We found that the strength in the Laurel Steelers Football & Cheer program is rediscovered each time we host events like this where large numbers of current and new families are eager to participate. Thanks to all of you.
