Attention Coaches, here's the list of things that you will need to complete ( all of this must be completed online):
Once all paper work is completed please email it to me as a complete package as soon as possible.
Once all of these steps have been completed, Coach's Registry cards will be created for those individuals. Again, please remember that only cleared coaches will be allowed to participate in any officially sanctioned HCRP/Steelers activity. This means that only coaches who have been given a Coach's Registry card are cleared, and coaches must wear them at all times.
1.Volunteer Application: (ONLY coaches new to HCRP): http://www.howardcountymd.gov/RAP/RAP_VolunteerApplication.htm, list "Laurel Steelers" as the Program/Activity
2. Volunteer Agreement: (ONLY returning Steelers coaches or coaches who have coached with HCRP before): http://www.howardcountymd.gov/RAP/RAP_VolunteerAgreement.htm, list "Laurel Steelers" as the Program/Activity. This is for every sport/season, so even spring indoor coaches need to complete this again. Also, if they didn't complete any of the below steps, they will need to do so.
3.Photo ID: (Driver's License, Passport, etc.): emailed or mailed (this step is described at the bottom of both the online Application and Agreement pages)
4.Concussion Training: go to http://www.cdc.gov/concussion/HeadsUp/online_training.html, take the course, and email the PDF
5.ASEP: call Registration at (410) 313-7275, 8 AM-4:30 PM, M-F to enroll for a course. If you want them to take the online course, instead, I need full names and email addresses and they will need to forward the email that they receive that says that they have passed the course.
6.USA Football: JUST HEAD COACHES; go to www.usafootball.com, click on "Coaches," click on "Join Now," join, and take the Coaching Course for Tackle Football. They'll need to save and email the "Letter of Completion- Coaching Course, Tackle." There is a $25 fee, HCRP will NOT reimburse for the membership. This USA Football requirement is a MMYFCL requirement, not an HCRP requirement.
7.Background check: you will receive an email directly from Kroll, the background check company, and they'll need to follow the instructions in that email to complete the background check. If they do NOT receive an email, it's because they were already cleared to participate from a previous sport/season and the annual background check doesn't need to be run yet; this could apply for someone who coached indoor in the spring, or coached another sport since last fall football season. All new coaches will be background checked, so they need to look for that email and check their spam regularly to make sure that they receive it.
